I want to use system restore and follow the correct
procedure. System restore goes through the motions and
then when it restarts and I log on again the system
restore screen comes up and says 'your computer cannot be
restored to..' whatever date I try(tried lots). Any help
with this annoying problem much appreciated. I have
looked at the database but no solutions offered.

You can turn it off from Control Panel > System > and then
re-boot and it will purge it's file. Then re-boot, turn it
back on.
And try this if the above does not work.

1. Put the in the Windows XP CD
2. Click Start , Run
3. Type the following then OK

rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf

You can also open Windows Explorer, go to
C:\Windows\Inf folder and right-click sr.inf (Then Install)
