Windows XP home edition on 1400 MHz computer with 40 G hard drive. I have
been chasing an Outlook Express drop out problem and in desperation tried to
do a System restore. It tried but said it couldn't do it, without
explanation. It suggested I try another restore point. I did this, several
times, with the same result. Has anyone any suggestions re the restore
problem?

This will get it to work again. Past points are history.

You can turn it off from Control Panel > System > and then
re-boot and it will purge it's file. Then re-boot, turn it
back on.

And try this if the above does not work.

1. Put the in the Windows XP CD
2. Click Start , Run
3. Type the following then OK

rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf

You can also open Windows Explorer, go to
C:\Windows\Inf folder and right-click sr.inf (Then Install)

Thank you. I've done the first thing but haven't tried to "Restore" yet as,
as you said, I haven't got anywhere to go back to yet. If I need to I'll
try the second and third suggestions.
