System Restore

I am having trouble restoring files on my computer. I
accidently emptied out my recycling bin and i would like
to restore those files. But I can't do system restore
because it just gives me errors. I need those files
back. can anyone help? I'm using windows xp Thanks a
million to those that can help.

if they were data files, ie documents etc, then you can't. System restore
does not affect data files.
