Hi
I have a problem with Windows XP Pro.
I created a restore point before I removed my virus program to replace
it with another.
I then used a 3rd party program to clean out the registry (Registry
First Aid for XP)
Then tried to install the new virus software which caused problems so
uninstalled it to revert back to my original virus program (Norton
2003).
The plan was to restore my registry to the point before doing all of
the above. Now when I try to run the System Restore program it either
does not start or it opens with a plain white box with nothing on it
thus preventing me from doing a system restore.
I would appreciate any help as I don't want to go down the route of
re-installing.
Most of the other programs work except Help/Support and Search. The
Search acts in the same way it starts up but a lot of the information
that should be in the box is missing, while the Help and Support does
not run at all.

Also is it possible to re-registry the DLL files.

Regards
Tony

What was wrong with your registry that required "first aid?"

try run " sfc \scannow" with your XP CD in the drive.

This will fix it. Don't use that reg cleaner again.....lol

To reinstall Help and Support: Go to
C:\Windows\inf\pchealth.inf. Right click and choose
install. Have your CD handy.

Note: The folder is hidden by default. Go to Start/Run
and type in: control folders. View: Show hidden files and
folders and uncheck Hide extensions for known file types

If it doesn't help go to Start/Run and type in: helpctr -
regserver
