System Restore

My System Restore has ceased to work I pick a highlighted
date it goes thro the procedure of restoring files closes
down reopens and the an error message comes up cannot
restore to that date choose another date. I do, several
times, same result.
Whats wrong, any ideas?? I seem to have incurred a no of
problems since loading the SP2 update

Hi

One or more of the System Restore files could have been corrupted - try
turning SR off/on - but I'm afraid that you will lose any existing
checkpoints:

Right click My Computer, select Properties and then the System Restore tab.
Enable 'Turn off System Restore on all drives' and reboot your PC. After
that 1st reboot go back into SR and disable 'Turn off System Restore on all
drives' and reboot your PC again. After that 2nd reboot you should have one
new SR checkpoint.

Hi Will thanks for the reply. The oddest thing I was
using system restore because of a problem with outlook
express It kept breaking my broadband connection.It would
dial up a connection and then immediately shut it down so
i couldnt send anything. Anyway in the end I dont know
how as I have sole access I found that in OE
Tools/Options/Connections a tick had appeared in the
box "hang up after sending and receiving" god knows how.
I took the tick out and OE worked. Out of curiosity I
tried System restore and it worked!!! Computers work in a
mysterious way lol

Hi

The BB connection should be available 24/7 even if you turn your PC off at
night. That connection via the cable modem is still retained. The only
times my cable modem shuts off is if their is a problem with my ISP.
