system restore?????

I want to reset my system to the original factory
settings. There are no discs as in previous versions.
System restore will not work. I want to get the computer
back to the way it was when I got it from the factory. I
am running windows xp home edition. Any suggestions
would be appreciated

System restore does not revert a computer to original factory settings. If
you do not have a set of recovery CDs from the computer vendor, you cannot
restore your computer to the original factory settings. However, you can
format your hard disk and reinstall Windows and all your software.

Check your manual or contact the computer manufacturer.
The manufacturer should have provided a way to go back to factory
settings.
HP as well as possibly others use a hidden partition on the hard
drive.

I also have this trouble, have you resolved it yet?
I would appreciate your help, the company
which supplied my system has gone & reformed elsewhere!!
