System Restore

I windows xp home edition, and I can not use system
restore,the computer goes through the motions but it
comes back with system not restored. I have tried
different restore points but to no avail, the system
restore is active, so I am at a loss as to the problem,
is there any one out there that can help many thanks

Graham;
There is probably corruption in System Restore data.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes all Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.
