Hi,

There is no "dos mode" in a WinXP system. If you are thinking of running it
from the command prompt by loading the Recovery Console or a boot floppy
(FAT32 only), no that won't work either. What you *can* do is load "safe
mode with command prompt" from the boot menu and run rstrui.exe from the
C:\Windows\sysstem32\restore folder. This will open the System Restore GUI
where you can revert the system to a prior date.

To the best of my knowledge it needs to be run under Windows.

You could attempt to run it from a command window:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Restore\rstrui.exe

Failing that, look up System Restore in Help and Support and look to reset
and get it working properly.
