I'm getting evet id 1 errors that say system restore has stopped because it
can't scan protected file SAVRT. After this it no longer creates restore
points until I do a manual creation. SAVRT is actually a folder in Symantec
Antivirus 9.01.1000

Anybody got a fix or work-around?

Thanks guys

Type in SAVRT into google. This will give you an idea of where your problem
is.
Have a good day

Hi Doug,

I suspect the Norton SAVRT file is interfering with the System Restore
filter. To test, uninstall NAV and confirm the files are not present
on the drive, then check to make sure SR is functioning properly.

To fully remove NAV files and registry entry, for the removal tool on
there support site.

Already did that. Lots of instances, but nothing that
offers a fix. I did a 100% uninstall and reinstall and
will see what that does. The offending program is one of
four computers running SAVCE 9.0.1.1000 and only this one
has problems. Maube I'm just lucky.

My next step will be to turn Real Time scanning off or
maybe just switch to selected files and list the savrt
files as not to be scanned.

who knows? may just go away by itself. Yeah right....

I just got a hotfix for this from Microsoft. Please see below:

The System Restore filter encountered the unexpected error '0xC0000243'
while processing the file 'SAVRT' on the volume 'HarddiskVolume2'. It
has stopped monitoring the volume.

Hi Leo,

Can you post the MS KB article number describing this patch?

I appologize for not following the link I put in my previous reply. The
article is KB888402.

Hard disk volume monitoring may stop in Windows XP
Describes how hard disk volume monitoring may stop on a computer that
is running Windows XP. Provides a hotfix to resolve this problem.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;888402

I hope this helps resolve your issue. They have no written instructions
and the hotfix asks for feedback if bad things happen. The only bad
thing happening on my computer has to do with JobBOSS software losing
its ability to find its password and that problem preceeded the
hotfix.

Regards,

Leo

Thanks very much. Could you email me the hotfix at (e-mail address removed) (remove the NS) so I
can take a look?
