System restore remove spyware?

I am wondering can restore the system to an earlier date
remove spyware?

NOT SURE BUT IF YOU GO TO WWW.PCWORLD.COM THEY HAVE

DOWNLOADS THAT SEARCH YOUR SYSTEM TO REMOVE SPYWARE SUCH
AS SPYBOT AND ADAWARE

Thank you. I gather from your reply system restore won't
get the computer back to its happier time.

This is my son's laptop I was talking about. He is in
college and got some very nasty spyware on his computer.
Currently he is using Spy Sweeper free version. After
scanning the system he still has problem even after the
program detected over 200 traces and quarantined the
files. From the Pc-cillin's "Internet security status",
his computer gets constant attack, his firewall logs took
over 5 minutes to clear (from 11/27 to 12/6). I'll
bookmark the sites you recommended and download these
files when he comes home for Xmas holiday. I will keep
you all informed.
