System Restore Probs

Hi

Have a slight problem that I hope you can help me with.

Hope this makes sense I will run through what I have done so you hopefully
have a clear picture.

I have downloaded Netscape 7.2 everything seemed fine but it put on my
system WeatherChannel programme.
It looks ok but I wanted to remove it but it would not go with add remove
programmes coming up with error could not open install log file.

So then I thought I will remove Netscape 7.2 and reload without the
WeatherChannel Programme!

Silly me now Netscape will not open or do anything open nothing still cannot
get rid of Weather also in Add Remove I have Netscape 7.1 and 7.2 I can
remove 7.2 but if I try to get rid of 7.1 I get another fault about the
uninstall folder not available in the registry on LocalMachine Software
area.

So I thought I will do a System Restore several day before I downloaded
Netscape 7.2.

I then notice my next fault SR is looking at my E drive not my C Drive????

I installed a new Harrdrive 1 month ago made that my C Drive and my old
drive E drive a back up area for my system.

Please help me how can I get my SR to look at my new C drive. When I select
a few days before SR says Changes made to C:/ drive after this point cannot
be reversed because the drive was excluded from SR monitoring or was turned
off or removed???

I have never turned it off or removed it what has happened ????

Cheers Dale

System restore will suspend if the drive it's monitoring is running low on
space. Is there adequate free space on the C: drive?

Okay, you didn't mention the size of the drive before so had no idea that
you have that much free space to kick around. A change in disk layout
(replacing a drive qualifies) will clear system restore points but it
shouldn't disable the service.

You say that you are not getting the settings panel for System Restore.
Where are you looking for this? Log on to an account in the administrative
group and try Control Panel> System properties> System Restore. Click on
the C: volume so that it is highlighted and click the Settings button. Make
the necessary changes to enable system restore on this drive.

If not getting the Settings screen, go to Administrative Tools> Services
and check that the System Restore Service and Remote Procedure Call (RPC)
are set to Automatic startup types and that they show a "Started" status.

and you're logged on to an account that is a member of the administrator
group while doing all of this? These settings will not be available to an
account belonging to a lesser group.

Also, see the System Restore section on the following page:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_s.htm

It discusses some tweaks to hide/limit access to System Restore. Reverse
the steps to regain access. There are also several links in that section
that go to MS Knowledge Base articles, most notably:
