I have tried to restore my system to several recent
points and each time get the message that this couldn't
be done and no changes have been made to my computer.

Restore points are still beeing added to the calender. I
have tried to restore after starting the pc in safe mode
and have checked that System Restore is set to "on" via
performance and maintenence, which it is.

I installed XP about eighteen months ago and have not had
this problem before. I haven't installed anything new
recently.

Any ideas, please?

many thanks in advance

Geoffrey;
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.

Jupiter,

Very many thanks and for your quick response. I followed
your instructions successfully and I am now able to
restore as before. I have learnt something, too. Thank
you, also, for pointing me towards the detailed
explanation of Restore. I have saved it for the future.

Regards

Geoffrey
