system restore meltdown !

I was trying to figure out why my Windows Media Player would not work and
decided to try a System Restore .I highlighted Febuary 10 2007 as my restore
date and after waiting for the system to go through all its steps I now find
that I have none of my photo files ,music files ,favorites etc. . I have
tried to go to the System Restore and try another date but it wont let me !
Please help !

System restore won't mess up your data.

Something else is wrong.

System Restore does not monitor image and music files. Are you certain it
was System Restore and not another restore application?

If System Restore was run in normal Windows mode, there should be an undo
restore point as shown on the following page.

Are you sure you didn't use some kind of disk image restoring software
instead?

System restore doesn't touch user files.
