system restore failures

Friends,
I tried to use system restore on my computer, because I
couldn't get windows messenger to end it's internet
connection which was preventing me from running norton
web clean up. The system restore operation hung up and
wouldn't finish. So I turned the power off on my
computer and repowered up. When windows restarted I got a
notice saying that the system restore was a failure.
Since then I have ran tests of system restore, and only
once was it sucessfull. It usualy says failed to restore
computer to a earlier time. System restore is turned on
to my hard-drive and I have a lot of disc space. Although
nothing is currently wrong with my computer, I am worried
if something does go wrong and system restore fails to
restore to a earlier time. Any advice would be
appreciated. Thank you.

Larry;
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.
