System Restore Check Points not being created

Hello:

I notice that that sytem restore points aren't being created on a daily
basis. I am able to manually create them, and SR points are automatically
created before new programs are installed.

But I'm not seeing the automatic creation of daily system resore points.

This PC and the XP OS are new for me, so I'm unaware if any running programs
might be affecting this.

Zone Alarm Security Suite 6.1 is constantly running , but I don't know if
this is preventing the SR pints from being created.

Thanks in advance:

Go to Control Panel//System and select the "System Restore" Tab. Make sure
the "Turn off System Restore" is unchecked. If you have more than one drive
showing, check that also.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Ed, but that box was never checked in the first place. So this could
not be what's causing the problem..

It looks like you may have a conflict with your virus scanner or firewall. I
know there were some pronblems with McAfee's earlier versions not so long
ago. There may still be some bugs there. I use Mcafee and ZoneAlarm without
any problems so I suggest you try Micorsfot Support for more information.

Hi Bert:

While troubleshooting the system restore as you recommended, I found that
the PC freezes during the reboot following the actual restore operation.

The PC is restored, and the automatic restart begins. The PC shuts down and
restarts. The Welcome to Windows screen appears, but then a blank blue
screen appears and remains there. The only way I could get Windows back is
to manually shut the PC down and manually restart it. When it restarts, it
is apparent that restore operation was successful.

I still don't see any automatic system checkpoints being created, but my
main concern at the moment is this freezing at the restart following the
system restore operation.

What might be causing this, and how can i go about correcting it?

Thanks in advance:

-Eli
