System Restore capacity in Vista Premium

I learned how to changed my system restore capacity in Vista Premium from
about 21 GB to whatever I wanted. My question is, short of just turning
system restore off, what is an acceptable capacity so that system restore
would still work if needed? I changed mine to 3 GB (to save Microsoft from
stealing 18 of my hard-earned GBs). Is this enough?

No one size fits all. That's why there is a default that works on a % of
your total drive space.

Experiment a bit. The more you have on your drive the more space you will
need for system restore.
