Don't know what happened. I noticed that I could no longer delete messages
from my Inbox in Outlook Express. Also noticed that my Sent Message folder
was very large and tried to delete all of those messages. Could not.
Sometimes nothing happens, sometimes I get a window saying that the message
could not be deleted. So I tried System Restore a number of times. Each
time it says that the system could NOT be restored. I don't get it. Never
had a problem with either of these Programs. I ran Norton's Anti Virus and
all is well. Ran check disk overnight.
Same 2 problems.
Everything else seems to be working OK.
Any thoughts?

For your System Restore problems see MVP Bert Kinney's System Restore
pages: http://bertk.mvps.org/index.html

For your Outlook Express problems try this.
1. Determine where your Outlook Express files are located. In Outlook
Express use Tool - Options. Go to the Maintenance tab and click on
the Store Folder button. Make note of the full path to the store
folder.

Close Outlook Express

Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the store folder location.
Locate the file named folders.dbx, right-click on it and rename it to
folders.old.
Next locate inbox.dbx and rename it to old_inbox.dbx, and then sent
items.dbx to old_sent items.dbx.

Now open Outlook Express. It will create a new folders.dbx file and
new empty folders for inbox and sent items. Your old stuff will be in
the Old_inbox and Old_Sent items folders in case you ever need to
refer to them again.

Good luck

Hi Dave,

As for the System Restore issue, the majority of the time this is caused
by a corrupt restore point. Turning System Restore off then on again
will purges all existing restore points, and creates one new one.

Try running System Restore from Safe Mode.
Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to
start your computer in Safe Mode.

Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account
that has administrator credentials.
In Safe Mode type or paste the following command in the Start - Run box
then press Enter.

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

There are also other possibilities that can cause this to happen. The
following pages have some troubleshooting steps to take.

keep the restore points from becoming corrupted in the future.
