Several days ago I installed KB870669 , a security patch.
Today I had to do a system restore to a date before the installation.
I had a search done, to see if I needed any updates, but nothing critical
showed up.

How do I check to see whether I still have the patch?

Thanks.

If you did a system restore to a date prior to the patch going in, the patch
needs to be reinstalled.
All software changes made between the dates of now and the system restore
date are gone. That's the purpose of System Restore.

If you did a system restore to a date prior to the patch going in, the patch
needs to be reinstalled.
But shouldn't it then show up in the list with patches to be downloaded?
Otherwise, where would I find the patch?

Thanks for your quick response.

System restore will *not* have restored the xml files in Program
Files\Windows Update\V4 that record what updates have been installed at
what times. Windows Update appears to check these files to see what
is needed, rather than the 'Updates' registry key (which *will* have
been restored. Have a look, opening in internet explorer, and make
notes - then using NotePad to delete blocks between delimiters
<Itemstatus> and the matching </itemstatus> that have a TimeStamp after
the date you made that point you returned to. Or simply rename the
files: though that may offer more updates than you might have bargained
for, you can then pick up only the one you want and restore the old
records over the new one that will have been made.
