Is there any way to see the system resources in XP the way
you used to be able to monitor them in windows 98?
 
Not an equivalent. XP has a totally different underlying kernel
from the 9x-ME product line. The limitations of 9X were do
to it's evolving from MS-Dos, so old structures carried forward.

In XP, use TaskMgr, Performance, Click View, Tic "Show
Kernel Processes". This will give you an overall view of system
loading. The normal view for TaskMgr is quite small so you
might want to increase the normal Window size.

XP simply does not have the "resources" problems that Win98 does. You
don't need to worry about it at all.

The term "System Resources," in Windows 9x and Me, referred to a
particular data structure that doesn't exist in Windows XP.

That's one of XP's many improvements over 9X. There are no System
Resources to run out of or to be concerned with.
