SYSTEM RESORE

why can't i do a sytem resore? i've not got a proper copy of xp i version
2526 not version 2600 which is the proper windows xp. could this have
anything to do with it. also i can' accass help and support. when i go to
start and click on help and support i get this message

windows cannot find'helpctr.exe' make sure you have typed the name correctly
and then try again. to search for a file click the start button and then
click search.

It's possible that part of the system problem is related to the Path
variable being altered or damaged, which a system restore would fix.
Try booting into the safe mode and then attempt the system restore
from there.

Hi Sally,

WindowsXP build 2526 is got to a beta copy. Go to Start - Run and type Winver
then press enter.
Please post the exact version.

No one can answer this question because you haven't provided enough
information. However, since you are apparently the same "sally" who
asked where to buy a legal copy of XP, I suggest you do that and then
do a clean install. Back up your data first. Normally you can try a
repair install to make your pirated copy legal (must be the same
version - Pro/Pro, etc.) but if the underlying operating system is
damaged a clean install would be wiser.
