system resore after add new boot disk!

I installed new seagate hard disk, everything works fine except system restore fails when try to use it. Get a message saying "system restore application error"??? Will not let me disable system restore either... Put original disk back and system restore works... Do I have to turn off system restore before using the new boot disk???

Select S and scroll to System Restore.
