I purchased a computer that had been registered &
acitvated by the previous owner. Is it possible to
change the registered user to myself? Or is it something
I should learn to live with?

1. Do Start > Run and type Regedit and press Enter;
2. Drill down to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE|Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
3. Single-click the CurrentVersion label, and you'll see a group of Registry
keys. Double-click the RegisteredOwner key icon (looks like [ab]);
4. Change it to your own name;
5. You may want to do the same with the Registered Owner icon;
6. Close Registry Editor.
That's it. You're done.
