System re-starts during some tasks

System will re-boot without warning during some tasks like, Downloading a
file, playing a certain game, and now while trying to do a complete virus
scan on my system with a new program, (Norton Anti Virus 2005).
The box to automatically re-start comp. in advanced setting is un-checked,
set for small memory dump. Every time this happens I get the same event
logged,as follows:
AMLI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal IO port address (0x70),
which lies in the 0x70 - 0x71 protected address range. This could lead to
system instability. Please contact your system vendor for technical
assistance.
Then the same error with "read" instead of "write".
I think I read that this error could be caused from the BIOS.
I have the most up to date release from the mfg.
I have tryed many basic things like reducing amount of memory used for
background services and start-up programs. I have tryed one of the registry
clean up programs to scan my system for old files and such, but I have not
changed anything. I have all current updates from MS. I have 1.1 Gig and
256 of RAM

Does anyone have any suggestions ? Please help. Thanks

This won't fix your problem, but it'll keep your machine from rebooting.

Unless the rebooting is caused by a hardware problem.

It may also help reading a BSOD. Blue Screen Of Death.

Choosing recovery actions if Windows stops unexpectedly

Right click My Computer | Properties | Advanced tab |
Click the Settings button under Startup and Recovery |
Under System Failure | UNCheck: Automatically restart |
OK |Apply | OK

[[Specifies whether Windows will automatically reboot whenever the system

The automatically restart button IS un-checked, as I stated in my first
message.
Any other ideas?

Contact the BIOS vendor for a possible BIOS update.
