System not recognizing increased page file

I increased the page file from 192mb to 756 mb (recommended by Windows) but
when a large file in excel maxes out the cpu to 100% the page file virtural
memory still only uses the 192mb. I have 512 ram.

Any ideas why the increased page file is not being used by Windows/excel?

Many thanks for help.

Is the hard drive partitioned?

When you increased the page file did you click on Apply before OK?

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to bring Task Manager and select the Performance
Tab. What is the Commit Charge? What was the Peak?

Hope this helps.

Perhaps because that is all that is needed. There is no correlation between
cpu usage and pagefile usage.
