System not booting properly

When I try to boot up my laptop, a screen comes up saying something along the
lines of:

The last attempt to restart from the previous location. Attempt to restart?

Delete previous restoration data and boot system normally
Contiue system restart

My problem is that I can't select either of the options because the keyboard
doesn't react to me pushing the keys. I've tried pressing Esc, F2, F8, and
F10 every time the VAIO logo comes up (it's a Sony VAIO laptop) but it never
reacts.

Any ideas?
