system lag

all of a sudden..my computer is lagging. I click
window , open, close, minimize, etc. it seems like it
is waiting on something. My system has 1 gig ddram and
120 gig harddrive... ive done all scans, viral,
defrag,the usuall maintainance...Hoping its sumpthin
simple as I haven't done anything extreme or out of the
ordinary. Thanks in advance for any input...Todd

Empty your Temporary Internet Files and Temp files folder under C: Drive >
Documents & Settings> "Your Username" > Local Settings.

Have you checked for adware? Virus software doesn't find adware.
Try Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy for adware/malware
removal.

I've found System Restore helps in many situations. Go back to whenever your
system was functioning normally.
