Is it possible to have a bad version of windows?,or maybe some sort of
hardware malfunction? I have scanned for viruses, addware, spyware and the
system will still freeze up. Please let me know

In my experience and from what most people have told me, this is VERY rare in
Windows XP. However, if you're using Windows 98 or Windows ME, it just
happens. Reinstalling Windows every 6 months is the only way to fix it that I
found. (I refer to Win 98 as Sir Crash-a-lot.)

After that bleak description... The things that can cause crashes that have
to do with Windows are usually drivers. You can check on Windows update to
see if there are newer and OFFICIAL drivers available for your hardware. If
you've installed new hardware recently, you can check to make sure you have
the newest drivers for those as well. Problems with hardware that seem to be
the most likely to cause crashes are over heating (maybe you have that new 3
Ghz Pentium 4 computer, but for some reason your computer manufacturer put a
really bad cooling fan in to save money) or RAM. I'm sorry, I know this info
is really general.
