I run Win XP, have all updates, 512 RAM, 20 gb & 60gb hd's
I thought I had this all cleared up and here we go again.

I was in a music folder ( I rip cd's) and I was in a folder listening to
some songs and all of a sudden the cover pic in the folder disapears. Well,
I went in tools, folder options, and unchecked to hide system files yada
yada. rebooted explorer, and the pics are back, but now they are all light
grey and show as system files, WHY!!!! I never had this problem before.

I do notice that the folders I have with cd's in them have the musical note
bottom right inside folder, like wallpaper..

I need answers please

Sarah

I'm not sure what you mean by 'show as system files'? So the following is
just an idea:

TweakUI for WinXP has an adjuster for thumbnail image quality. If the
setting for mage quality is too high for the video card the thumbnails can
appear black and white. Lowering the quality setting will (*should*) restore
colour. It may require unchecking Cache thumbnails in Folder options - it's
been a while - and a reboot or at least log -off and back on.

So, you may consider installing TweakUI and using the adjuster to lower the
thumbnail image quality so that colour is restored - it's found under the
Explorer node in TweakUI:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/downloads/powertoys.asp

Look for TweakUI.exe

let me try to get this across to you..
When I right click on a jpg in a music folder, PROPERTIES, it says Archive
and greyed out it says HIDDEN, as in system file

does this help?

Ah yes, the world of Windows. I think this may be the root of your
problem;

I was unaware of the jokesters that may be here, as anywhere on line.

I went and looked at the VIRUS INFO. RAN THE TOOL. saw your LINUX page,
and decided you were joking around
THANKS

now upon reboot I get 2 notepad files open on desktop that both say

[.ShellClassInfo]
LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN RICHY RICH?? hmm?

Sort of. Really just offering an alternative.

I don't have a clue. I only offered that virus page to refer to
because I ran into this before at a network that I administer. Windows
is not my forte.

You never did say whether you were infected with that virus. Were
those files indeed all the same size and ended with a .vbs extension?
If so, you may have more virii or other damage. A clean install may be
in order here.

If you do decide to do a clean install, then you must make a choice.
