System file not found - error msg

i recived this error msg when opening the computer. how
can i restore the Win XP (Pro) OS?
PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Do you have a floppy in your drive starting the PC? - remove it.

Hi, Keren.

What does "opening the computer" mean? Is this a laptop with a lid that
closes when the computer is not in use? Exactly when does the message
appear: before WinXP starts to load? Before the desktop appears? And, of
course, does the message mention which system file might be missing? Are
there cryptic codes which might seem like garbage to most people, but which
mean a lot to someone who might be able to interpret them if you post them
here?

If you include the make and model of your computer in your next post that
might head off a few other questions later. You can see your computer; we
can't.
