System File Checker

Dennis

I've just finished my second install of WinXP-Home, OEM,
and neither times did it install "System File Checker",
yet all the "SFC" files are on the XP-Home CD-ROM. Can
anyone tell me how to install SFC on my machine? It is
not an option on any of the catagories in "Add/Remove
Windows Components". TIA

To run the file checker, place the XP CD in the drive

Click START|RUN and type...

sfc /scannow <enter>

Note the space between "sfc" and the "/"

Not much benefit from putting SFC on your HD as it requires the files on the
CD anyway to make any necessary additions or replacements .

start
RUN
cmd
If necessary, type cd\ and enter to get to the c:>
Then try sfc /scannow
Be sure to have a blank between sfc and /scannow

(Or sfc /? to get the options)
