Is it advisable to run SFC on a Windows XP computer? If so, how, exactly,
should it be done? I don't find any references to it in the Help files.
Thanks.

.
Go to Start > Run and type "sfc scannow" without the
quotes. Have your operating system disk at hand.

SFC is really sfc.exe. Sfc.exe is Windows 2000 System File Checker.

Start | Run | Type: sfc /scannow | OK
Have your XP CD ready to stick in your CD drive.

If you have XP Home and it asks for your XP Pro Cd, stick the CD in the
drive *first* and then type the command.

scannow sfc (sfc.exe)
