System File Checker doesn't recognize SP1 CD

SP1 is installed but Win XP Pro's Help feature is not fully functioning.

When I run
sfc /scannow
the program asks for the SP1 CD.

However, when I do so a popup box states
"The CD you provided is the wrong CD. Please insert the Windows XP
Professional Service Pack 1 CD into your CD-ROM drive."

Note that the CD states on it that it is for both Home and Professional
versions of WinXP.

Now what?

Wrong CD, that's the update CD, not a Windows CD. Place your original
Windows CD when requested. The SP files should be on your HD and will be
incorporated in the System File Recovery.

Tried the OS CD too. Same problem.

Unlike other programs, such as those that install driver files, SFC doesn't
provide a Browse button for the user to select a chosen path to retrieve
files from.

Note also that I checked the registry and both of the following values had
data strings pointing to C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles

KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup
value: ServicePackSourcePath
value: ServicePackCachePath

However, the SFC utility kept asking for a CD, so next I changed the data
strings for the above values to the correct drive letter of the CD drive.
Then I rebooted and tried again to run
sfc /scannow
But the same problem reappeared.

Next I made a single "slipstreamed" bootable CD of WinXP CD + SP1a CD. Then
after again running the SFC utility I inserted this new CD when it asked for
one. Same problem.
