Here is hoping..... On my Think Pad 600x, XP pro, sfc /scannow will Not execute. Have repair/reinstalled XP twice

A brief flash to a black command type window in screen center is all I see and a blur of 2 lines in there. (less than 1/2 sec)

Do I need a wege board?! Thank you all MVP folks in advance for previous help. I don't know about this one

Are you trying to run it from the "Run" box? Try running it from within a
command prompt-->Start, Run, cmd, then run SFC

Say Fellas! Great Idea.....but here is what I got
"Windows file protection could not initiate a scan of protected system files
The specific error code is 0x000006ba [The RPC server is unavailable

I am in safe mode. The re-install put one checkmark back in 'hide files'. I

removed and applied to all files and folders.......and stopped there. Same error. Graham
