System File Check

On xP Home when I run System File Checker it asks for SP2
CD Rom. I don't have one! All my updates are downloads
from Microsoft.
What do I do?
 
Not to worry. Just stick in your XP CD and you'll be fine.

To explain: Succeeding versions of the XP CD may have service packs already
included.

It certainly worked, but how do I know that files modified
by downloaded updates have not now been overwritten with
original files which are 12 months older?

The people who make the updates are the same people who made the original
CD. They know what to do. You know something, you worry too much. Go outside
and enjoy the beautiful spring weather. A little Cabernet wouldn't hurt,
either.
