System Error

In midst of working on my laptop the an error message
popped up stating: System Shutdown
The System is shutting down. It stated to save any work,
etc. Then said the Shutdown was initialized by NT
Authority/System.
Then a message window below stated: Windows must now
restart because the Remote Procedure Call has unexpectedly
terminated.
I have rebooted and completely turned the machine off and
this has not corrected this problem.
What is causing this error and how can I fix it?

You are infected with the Blaster worm.

That means you have been on the Internet without having a
firewall turned on and you have not done the Windows Updates
to install the patch which has been available for months.

You have to start the computer and if you can get into the
task manager [ctrl/alt/del] and shut the Blaster process
down.
Then turn the XP ICF ON.
Then download the tool to clean the system from either
www.sarc.com or the Stinger virus removal tool from
http://vil.nai.com/vil/averttools.asp

Then, when the system is clean, do all the Windows updates.
