System Error when trying to install some programs

I get the following error:

The Win16 Subsystem was unable to enter Protected Mode, DOSX.EXE must be in
your AUTOEXECT.NT and present in your PATH.

I added DOSX.EXE ...... may have done it incorrectly.

¿In the PATH?

To finalize: I have no clue what to do.

You add the location of that file to the path.

Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties. On the Advanced tab,
click "Environment variables" and in the lower section, System Variables,
click on Path and choose Edit. Be sure that the "%root%\system32" folder
is in the path (adjust if the system32 folder is in another location).
Here's a part of the path from my system:

%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;

Choose OK and Apply back to the desktop. You might or might not need to
reboot.

Mine is as yours:
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;

However, after "\Wbem;" IS the following> C:\Program Files\......and then a
list of a few Program Files.

I too have this problem, I am using XP Pro. I did check the path. It's all
there. Still I get this error.......
