System error, restarts

Well, I posted this in "General", but I think this is
probably a better place for it. Basically, my computer
restarts itself (frequently) without any prompting. When
it comes back on I get a message that says:
The System has recovered from a serious error

So far I've tried 3 different things that HP suggested,
all to no avail. Please help, it's driving me crazy!!

XP can crash and restart for literally hundreds of reasons.
The first step is to identify the STOP code.
Look at the application, security and system messages
in the event viewer (eventvwr.msc from the RUN box)

You said HP gave you three suggestions but you don't say what
they were.
