System deletion of documents

With old OS's (thru XP) from Microsoft, there was a plethora of add-on
software available for deletion of various & sundry document files,
usually upon system shutdown.

To simplify my request; does anyone know of, or able to recommend, some
add-on that give Vista no trouble (leading up-to, or during the
proccess of document deletion)?
 
Any XP program will be able to run in Vista if you set the compatibility
mode. Do you have an app that you use(d) with XP in mind?
