Metadata, how do i delete it from a folder?

I'm running Vista 64-Bit, and while I was searching my machine, I did a
search for metadata.
I got a list of over 100 files (xml documents) in
c:\Users\user name\Documents\Downloads\Metadata

Well, when I click on 'open file location', I get "Location is not
available, blah blah blah".
If I try to delete any of the metadata files I get "file may have been moved
or does not exist".

They are mostly linked to .mp3s, video files, and some software. Most of
which I dont even have anymore. I think they transfered over onto my Vista PC
from my XP system when I transfered a load of folders over.

Why are these files there, why does doing a search of my system reveal them,
yet it says they dont exist when i try to remove them, and most importantly,
how do I delete these files???

Any help will be much appreciated :)
