I recently removed SP2 as I believe it was causing issues w/ my Media Player.
Now I when I run "MSCONFIG" I get messages..."Cannot read config.sys,
system.ini, win.ini and autoexec.bat files. I know I have issues with the
desktop icons and some other problems with IE. Suggestions how to restore the
System Config Utility?
Thanks!

Do a system restore (hit F8 when starting computer), this will fix your
system.ini and win.ini......

You might test this before,

expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\win.in_ c:\windows\win.ini
expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\system.in_ c:\windows\system.ini

You might test this before,

start>run>cmd

expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\win.in_ c:\windows\win.ini
expand CD-ROM Drive Letter:\i386\system.in_ c:\windows\system.ini
