can someone tell me how to get rid of an item in my start
up list in system config utility, the item is not in my
control panel list where I would normaly remove an
application I dont want anylonger.

Hi,

Disable the item in the list and the entry will be moved here:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg]
