I've been getting a message first when I added a link to another web site and
now while trying to publish my web site. The message reads, "a system call
that should never fail has failed." Can anyone tell me what this is?
Thanks

Is your link to the other site a link to a file by any chance??

That will generate this error.

no, the link is a link to another web site. But besides the link problem I also get the same message when I try to publish the site.

I've discovered that the Error message that I was getting was the result of recently installing Mozzila firefox. Apparently Front page doesn't want you using Mozilla. Thanks for your help.

Firefox and FP are cohabitating very nicely on my machine. The offspring should be
lovely.

FP &: FF, Moz, Opera, IE6, NS7, and a few other versions have been happily playing well together on my machine for a lonnng time.

All I can say is that after uninstalling mozilla I'm no longer getting the
error message" a system call has failed that should never fail" Which I know
sounds a little strange.

Did you make FF your default browser, instead of IE? That might cause problems with FP.
