sysprep problems

I'm am trying to figure out how to make sysprep work on
computers with different hardware. Does factory mode have
to be used for this? Usually the computers are different
types of Dell Optiplex computers, but the users do get
clones once in a while. I tried making an image on a Dell
GX270 and when I tried loading it on a GX240 it blue
screend so fast that I couldn't even see what the error
was. What's the best way to get around this? Do I need
to use OEMDRIVERSPATH? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, could it be different mass storage devices causing
this error? If so how do you get around that?
