Sysprep Problem -- Setup hangs

S

Scott Gutierrez

I'm trying to use Sysprep 1.1 and Symantec Ghost 2003 to
rollout an image for a small office network. I've setup
the model machine and my user profiles the way I want
them. I Ghosted the disk, started up with the new disk,
ran Sysprep and then cloned this disk onto three others.
When I go to boot up the other machines, I get the white
Starting Windows bar at the bottom, but then the systems
hang once the "meter" gets to the end of the bar. That's
it. I've used this method at least 50 times without any
problems, but just can't get it running right this time.
No error messages or anything, so...

Any ideas?

Hi Scott:

Do you know if all the machines use the same (or compatible) HALs?

The best way to determine this is to do a clean install on each of the
machines, and then look at the setupapi.log to see what HAL each machine
uses. To determine this, open setupapi.log in Notepad, search on HAL - look
for something like this - indicating which HAL is installed:

Doing full install of ROOT\ACPI_HAL\0000.
Device required reboot: "Reboot" in section: ACPIPIC_UP_HAL.
Device install finished successfully (ROOT\ACPI_HAL\0000).

If there are differences between the reference machine and the others, this
is likely the cause.
