Sysprep.exe "INCOMPATIBILITY" with XPSP2 "Slipstream"

I created an image using the "Slipstreamed" CD version of WinXP with SP2 from
MS Select-CD then I ran the NEW Sysprep.exe 2.0 (extracted from the SAME CD
in Support\Tools\Deploy.cab. I got an error saying that "the version of your
current OS is INCOMPATIBLE with the version of Sysprep"
I tried an OEM Windows XP with SP2 (Slipstreamed) on another system, using
the Sysprep.exe on that same CD and get the same error
Anyone has any idea what is this error related to? Is this one of MS "got
you" thing?

Slipstreaming SP2 into an XP source directory does not update the
SUPPORT\TOOLS\DEPLOY.CAB. So you need to download the tools from
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...91-ac56-4665-949b-beda3080e0f6&DisplayLang=en
(the XP SP2 version) or
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...f2-ebfd-4f99-bbc4-e93154c332d6&DisplayLang=en
(the Windows Server 2003 SP1 version).

I think my original message wasn't clear. I didn't "slipstreamed" SP2
myself. I used the Windows XP WITH SP2 supplied by MS. I have Select-CD
(Volume Lisence) subcription and receiving new CDs frequently. I used the
latest CD when creating my images which is the "MS Windows XP Professional
with Service Pack 2" CD (End Item Part No. E85-02830). I checked the version
of the sysprep.exe, setupcl.exe, factory.exe etc... from the Deploy.CAB in
the CD and the one I downloaded from your link, they are same version
5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158). I also tested with the OEM MS
Windows XP Professional WITH SP2 that came with my new home PC. Again, the
version of the sysprep.exe and others are the same version as I mentioned
above. I can't get the sysprep.exe running without giving me the "the
version of your current OS is INCOMPATIBLE with the version of Sysprep"
I didn't do anything beside loading Office 2003, Acrobat Reader 7.0.2 and
system drivers
The only thing I can think may "offend" or "upset" sysprep is using a Dell
system to create the image as Carey Frisch pointed out in his reply to my
post regarding "Unsupported Syspreps scenarios" in which said "Microsoft
does not support the use of Sysprep to create a new image of a system that
was originally created by using a custom OEM installation image or by using
OEM installation media. Microsoft only supports such an image if the image
was created by the OEM manufacturer" but I don't think I used the original
image comes from Dell nor I used the OEM installation media (CD-ROM) to
install Windows XP onto the Dell PC. IF this is true then it is "insane"
because we have thousand of systems to deploy and can' make our own images
which wasn't the case previously
Best regards

UPDATE and CORRECTION: I downloaded the new Deploy.cab from the link and was
able to run sysprep.exe without further error even both sysprep.exe indicate
the same date and version number; however, they are different
