Syncronizing WinXP Internal Clock

I thought that this issue was resolved, but it's reared it's head again.
Something is keeping the WinXP "Date and Time" function from synchronizing
the internal clock with outside standard time sources. "Socket Watch" is
having the same problem. Yesterday I showed a similar thread as resolved,
since the time function suddenly started working again. This morning both
"Socket Watch" and WinXP "Date and Time" showed that they can't synchronize
with outside standard time sources. What can be causing this? I know that
both programs are polling the outside standard sources; it's that something
is refusing to allow either to reset the clock. Suggestions?

Firewall(s) were both in effect when clock was resetting. I think that this
has something to do with permission to make some change.

Now this issue IS resolved. It turns out that, although I'm not clear on the
reason, McAfee Internet Security Suite Firewall started blocking the time
reset function. When I turned the McdAfee firewall off, and left the Windows
firewall on, the time reset functioned correctly. When I interrogated
McAfee, I finally found the advice to enable Port 123, which solved the
problem. Apparently this problem was common several years ago. I have no
idea why it suddenly resurfaced. If anyone needs detailed instructions on
how to do this, just let me know in a reply.
