Syncing outlook calenders

Hi Guys

We run an exch 2003 box, but we have the outlook pst stored and delivered
locally on the machine instead of the server mailbox, this gives the user 2
calenders in outlook but they dont seem to sync any new meetings or current
appoinments across the 2, Is there a way i can have them sync automatically

Thanks

I don't think I quite understand your environment...why are you using
server mailboxes AND PST files?

It's really best-practice to just use the Exchange Mailbox and that
would seem to solve your sync problem.

Reason been limited space avail on server, and the person who did the
initial migration from 2000 did not follow the correct steps so now i'm stuck
with loads of pst's which are local on laptops and server based for the
desktops (home drive)

i need to be able to sync the calenders is there a way or not

Well, my advice would be to fix the server problems - storage is cheap
and you'll be glad you did it.

That said, I'm not aware of a capable sync tool but you might check here
and see if you can find one that works for you:

Thanks will check the site.. yeah the new server is on the menu with raid and more than enough storage and memory capacity, also a fesh proper install of exch 2003 and importing of there old mail pst's into the new mailbox

You'll need a third-party tool or VBA code you write yourself if you want to
keep two calendars in sync.

You should be delivering your data to the mailbox, not a PST. Why are you
using a PST? Perhaps there are other approaches we can suggest if you tell us
the reasons behind your configuration.

In the meantime, leave the delivery location on the server and create a rule
that will move only mail items to the PST. That will give you the best of
both.

Just an FYI: The Exchange server can store the info much more
efficiently than a PST. A PST will use up to 3x as much space.

Outlook 2003 (In cached mode) and Exchange 2003 - When I get the
Folder Sizes dialog that lists each folder and size in each, There are two
tabs in the Folder Sizes dialog box in the client properties in Outlook,
local and server. They Show:

Local Data Total Size (including subfolders) 136855 KB
Server Data Total Size (including subfolders) 83997 KB

The Local is significantly larger than the Server because there are two
copies of each message in the OST, one in Unicode and one in RTF.

Exchange is RTF-Aware a PST is not. For detailed info see:
