Hi
Under Outlook 2000 I could select to synchronise a particular public
folder (to read it offline).

Under 2003 I can't see an option to do this. The filter option is
greyed out (under folder properties -> synchronisation).
I have tried selecting the option "download public folder favourites"
but that downloads ALL my favourites - and that is very large

I presume you're working in Cached Exchange mode? The trick to getting at
least close to the the behavior you want is to take Outlook offline. All you
need to do is choose the File, Work Offline command. If Outlook is offline
when you shut down the application, Outlook will start up in offline mode
the next time you run it. Once you have Outlook working in offline mode, you
can turn on its ability to download the Public Folders\Favorites and then
restart Outlook and specify exactly which favorites to download.

Once Outlook restarts, choose Tools, Send/Receive, Send/Receive Settings,
Define Send/Receive Groups. Select the All Accounts group, and then click
Edit to display the dialog where you can check which public folders you want
to download into the local cache during a send/receive session. These
settings apply only when Outlook is offline. If you toggle the File, Work
Offline command to go back online, Outlook will start downloading everything
in Public Folders\Favorites into your local cache.

Thanks for the help. I decided that I need to work online (in fact do
so most of the time). Hence I have removed the large public folders
from my favourites. I am now syncing the folders that I do want.

Is it possible to set a filter on a large folder only to keep items of a
certain age (e.g. last week) rather than sent after a specific date.
