On a Vista PC ...

I tried using:
robocopy M:\ N:\ /MIR /XO /XA:[H]

I've got in a mess now! I managed to get it to run with just /MIR, but
it seemed to be creating loads of strange directories on the
destination [I later found out they were the Recycle Bin] so I stopped
it and deleted them all.

Now when I run it, with no switches, I get:

ERROR 5 Changing File Attributes M:\ (the source)
Access is denied.

I'd rather not changed the attributes anyway (presumably the A bit). I
wonder if this is a permissions or ownership problem. I am the
Administrator.

I had no luck in m.p.w.v.n-s, so any thoughts in this group?

Judging from the wording of the message you quote, it seems indeed to be
a permissions problem. But as far as I know, only Robocopy's /M switch
will change the Archive attribute on the source. Then again, I have no
experience with Vista; does this work from a NT5.x workstation?
