sync copy inaccessible--how make accessible?

Hello,

I am trying to update files on my laptop with Briecase; however, I keep getting the error: "[some folder] has a sync copy that is inaccessible. The folder will not be updated until the sync copy is accessible from this computer."

How do I avoid this problem?
How do I find out why the sync copy is inaccessible?
How do I make the sync copy accessible?
